Frequently Asked Questions

What is aba?
ABA, or Applied Behavior Analysis, is the process of applying interventions based on principles of learning theory to improve socially significant behaviors, to show the best ways of doing this, and show interventions employed are responsible for the improvement in behavior. ABA works to change behavior by assessing the functional relationship between a behavior and its environmental factors. The approach often seeks to develop replacement behaviors that serve the same functions are the aberrant behaviors.

What is an aba tech? An Aba behavior therapist? an RBT?
An ABA Tech, or Applied Behavior Analysis Tech, is a certified service provider. ABA techs are behavioral development professionals who study how behavior impacts patients and uses that information to help patients overcome a range of mental and social challenges. ABA Techs and Therapists often reinforce positive, learned behaviors using a variety of specialized techniques. ABA Techs and therapists are often experienced, and then trained by the company in ABA techniques. They can then move on to become an RBT, Registered Behavior Technician, after 40 hours of training and an RBT certification.
